Germany have home advantage here, and although they have opted to play the tie on clay, there are reasons to argue they can be value. Florian Mayer and Philipp Petzschner play singles against Juan Monaco and David Nalbandia, while the pair of Petzschner and Haas look a dangerous combination in the doubles.

The first of the women’s singles is the match up between Victoria Azarenka and Kim Clijsters.
